Band Members
As rock artists usually have a backing band, I decided that Ophelia should be the main lead singer/artist but have a band to help exhibit her music. They will be a similar age to Ophelia and within City Sound's target audience age group. All 3 members of the band will be very friendly with Ophelia so there is a strong level of comfortableness and almost a brother/sister relationship between them all; as they spend a lot of time together rehearsing, touring and performing together. This sort of relationship between them all will come across well to the interviewer of City Sound and the audiences of Ophelia's performances.
LOCATION: A White room studio.
MODELS: The Band - Rebecca Moore, Tom Booth-Woodger & Rosie Hovell.
PROPS: A Guitar.
MAKE-UP: Minimal for the females, Rosie wore heavier black eye make-up for the shoot along with a pink/red bolder lip colour.
HAIR: Rebecca's hair in a straight back pony tail, Rosie with her hair straightened with occasional shots of her messing her hair up, Tom's hair was styled with wax to create a unique style. Keeping the curls and waves within his hair in place for the shoot; again some shots with him making his hair the focal point by brushing his hand through it.
WARDROBE: I wanted to maintain the simplicity of their wardrobe styles, so that Ophelia would be the main point of attraction. To do this I requested that my models wore close to all black and white with some formality. Rebecca wore a long black winter coat with a white shirt, Rosie wore a black jumper with a white shirt underneath and lastly Tom, wore a white shirt, black tie and a khaki green jacket over the top, similar to the shirt that the main artist wore in my first shoot. Essentially tying together fashions from previous decades to now. Rebecca and Rosie both wear glasses, I requested that they kept their glasses on as it added to their uniqueness and further would be portrayed as them being genuine in the DPS.
OTHER MISE-EN-SCENE INFO: My Canon EOS 100D camera used. Soft box lighting was used to help illuminate my subject and shots. Rebecca had the most shoots with the guitar so it could determine her role within Ophelia's band. Shot MCUs to Long shots to ensure the shot varied and my model's bodies were seen as well as taking MCUs. This also ensured props were fully seen also. Rule of Thirds was used in some of my photographs to entice a more interesting composition. The brief of body language and facial expressions I gave my models was to be relaxed and were free to improvise with what they did with their body and face. I want to use these individual band pictures within the DPS for Ophelia, almost like a 'get to know' the band section, thus I rarely staged artificial poses as I wanted their own real personal character to show successfully.
