Research
Market/Student Research Secondary Research
In order to gain Market Research to therefore create my School Magazine's Cover and Contents Page, I constructed a Questionnaire.
My Questionnaire consisted of 10 questions that would determine the design and context of my School Magazine. Here is the link to view and complete my Survey - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BYMQJQ5 |
As well as constructing a questionnaire, I looked at other School Magazines and gathered either inspirations from the magazines which appeared successful or from the opposing ones, gained ideas to avoid as they didn't sell the school enough, for example Chelmsford County High School's School Magazine. Below is a slideshow of other School Magazine covers I analysed.

Planning
Layout
From the results from my Questionnaire, I began to firstly plan out the layout for the School Magazine. In the following Gallery shows the 3 different ideas of cover layouts I drafted. The Layout I finally contently chose, I hand drew also.
Typography & Masthead For the Title of my School Magazine, I chose the most popular answer from my Questionnaire, I then however, tried how all of the titles would look in my chosen font after experimenting with a variety of typography font options such as Humanistic, Realist and Geometric. In the end I chose for 'Youthoria' to be in a humanistic font as it appeared modern and stylish. - Which with the rest of the cover would attract my TA. As well with designing the title, I also had to pick the genre of this issue of my School Magazine and what text on the cover would feature and engage with my target audience ensuring they read on.The following images shows my progress. To carry on the house uniformity, I carried this font on throughout all areas of text.
